Faridabad is a district as well as city in the south-east of Haryana state in northern India,It lies at 28º 25' 16" N Latitude and 77º 18' 28" E Longitude. The district shares its boundaries with the National Capital and Union Territory of Delhi to its north, Gurgaon district to the west and Uttar Pradesh to its east and south. Faridabad enjoys a prime location both geographically and politically. [1] The river Yamuna separates the District Boundary on eastern side with Uttar Pradesh. Delhi-Agra National Highway No.2 (Shershah Suri Marg) passes through the centre of the district. History of Faridabad
Founded by Sheikh Farid in the year 1607, the city was named after his name by the Government of India. Faridabad was inhabited because of him and the ruins of his tomb can still be seen on Talab Road near Gopi Colony in Old Faridabad. He was the treasurer to Mughal emperor Jahangir. King was pleased by him and gave him the town primarily to protect it from invaders since it was the most important route that connected Delhi with Agra. Today the road is known as the Grand Trunk Road, which is a major connecting highway to the states in the north of India.

Surajkund Crafts Mela
