Bomdila is a beautiful small town situated at a height of about 8000 ft. above the sea level from where one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range. The Buddhist monastery of Bomdila is the repository of culture and is among primary attractions of the area.

Bomdila is the headquarters of West Kameng district located at the height of 8500 ft above the sea level. It has a lot of attractions for the tourists with its cool climate, Apple orchards, artistic people, snow-capped Himalayan peaks and Buddhist Gompas. The Buddhist monastery of Bomdila is the repository of culture.. This place has a tourist lodge, a craft centre displaying local crafts and a shopping centre where the visitors gets first feel of the local version of Himalayan Buddhist life.

Local site seeing to Dirang valley and the famous Sela Pass (13,700 ft. M.S.L.) are thrilling experience on the way to Tawang. The Orchid Research and Development Station at Tippi and two other Orchid conservation sanctuaries located at Sessa and Dirang are worth seeing places.

The Nature Around: In Arunachal Pradesh, West Kameng district’s headquarters is situated in the tiny picturesque town of Bomdila. The town is situated against the charming backdrop of breathtaking sceneries and mountain tops of the Himalayan range, covered in snow. Numerous Gompas, commonly known as Buddhist Monasteries are present here. For the people who love adventures and excitement, Bomdila and its surrounding landscapes offer some trekking activities and very trails for hiking.

The Orchid Research and Development Station: In Tippi, the Orchid Research & Development Station is situated. Also, at Sessa and Dirang there are two more Orchid preservation centers or sanctuaries.

Craft Centre & Ethnographic Museum: Also present are a centre, which displays local handicrafts to the public eye and also a place for shopping, where people comes in touch with the actual culture and traditions of the Himalayan Buddhist Life. One can get ‘dragon’ motifs on carpets of vibrant colors, Buddhist Tangkas which are wall hangings and the masks. Another location to go to is the Ethnographic Museum.

Buddhist Monasteries: One of the major attraction in the beautiful town of Bomdila and which everyone should pay a visit to, are the ‘Gompas’, otherwise known as Buddhist Monasteries.

Apple Orchards: A tour in the orchards full of apple tress is a fascinating experience for the tourists.

Tawang Town:, In the north direction of Bomdila, Tawang, a tiny town, is situated. While going to Tawang from Bomdila, one experiences a spectacular sight full of Dirang Valleys and also the renowned Sela Pass. The altitude of the pass is 4300 meter above the sea level. Famous in the whole world for the ancient Buddhist monastery, which dates back a 400 years, Tawang is located at an elevation of 3400 meters above sea level. The ancient monastery has been in existence from the middle part of the 17th century. In the northeastern part of India, this monastery is an important Buddhist center.

How to reach Bomdila?
Road: Bomdila is located in a remote part in India. No railway station or airport is available here. But Bomdila is well connected with other towns in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam by road. Regular bus services of APSTC and ASTC are available at Bomdila with Tezpur of Assam and Tawang, Itanagar of Arunachal Pradesh. Tezpur to Guwahati has a direct Bus service. And Guwahati is well connected with all major cities in India by road, rail and also by air. You can also hire a private car from Guwahati or Tezpur to reach at Bomdila. It may take 8 hours to reach Bomdila from Guwahati and 4 hours from Tezpur.
Rail: Nearest railway station is at Tezpur of Assam, which is 160km away from Bomdila and at Rangapara. Some express trains are available to reach at Tezpur from rest of India. But it is well connected with Guwahati. And Guahati is well connected with all over India by rail.
Air: Nearest airport are at Tezpur and in Guahati. After arrive there you should follow road journey to reach at Bomdila.
